October Loves

We had a gorgeous Saturday in DC this weekend so Z and I took advantage and walked to Georgetown for a little shopping. I finally got to try on the sparkly Nell flats I’ve been obsessing over (fit TTS, really comfortable, yay! Hopefully they’ll be making it my way come birthday time…) and we played with various scents at Sephora in search of a new fall fragrance. I’m really loving the seasonal transition at the moment – it’s actually going to be cold enough for tights this week! Here are a few other things I’m loving at the moment as well…

Deborah Lippmann new holiday colors Boom Boom Pow and Today was a Fairytale (hello, sparkle!)

Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo (my current fave dry shampoo, it’s actually invisible and smells great!)

Dior DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum (I’ve been using this for a couple months now as a primer under my mascara and also at night as a lash conditioner – I definitely notice fuller, thicker lashes. I don’t think they are particularly longer, but I also have short Asian eyelashes that don’t seem to want to grow…)

Gucci Guilty (after testing a number of scents, I think this is my new fall fave! Described as: “A sheer, floral-oriental fragrance, it opens with a bright burst of citrus and a dangerous hint of black pepper. This arresting introduction gives way to full-throttle femininity as its heart pulses with fruity and floral notes. The fragrance dries down to a rich, ambery base with notes of patchouli. The overall effect is young, stylish, and eminently wearable—a daring edge of sexiness and sensuality that captures the essence of Gucci.”)

Kate Spade Twirl capsule collection (inspired by the new fragrance Twirl, I’m especially loving the sparkly  Twirl Karolina heels, Twirl Bow Cuff, perfectly red Twirl Lipstick, and festive Twirl Margie Clutch

Burberry quilted leather riding boots and Hunter Regent Savoy wellies (I’m finding quilted boots so chic right now – one pair for everyday wear and one for inclement weather, of course)

YSL Muse, Balenciaga 10th Anniversary Iridescent First, Proenza Schouler Large PS1, Alexander Wang Rocco Mini Duffle (I’m convinced my next splurge bag needs to be a color other than black or brown… right now I’m particularly attracted to iconic bags in shades of purple – despite the fact that the Wang bag color is called “ocean blue” is is most definitely a rich, dark purple. I spent a good 10 minutes petting it a Barneys this weekend – so not “me” but so pretty.)

Parker Double Flare Sleeve Dress (I don’t quite have it in me yet to cheat on my beloved DVF tabalah tunics but this dress is definitely close to being on the list of dresses-i-love-and-therefore-need-to-own-in-every-print-ever-created. I love the feminine, relaxed silhouette and how its perfect worn bare-legged and with tights/boots as it gets colder… It’s also on sale in cream!)

What are you loving this month?

Make the Investment: Crystal Bow Necklace

A few months ago I posted about the absolutely gorgeous Fallon Crystal Khaki Bow Necklace that the lovely lady down the street (Mrs. Obama that is) wore on the cover of December’s Glamour. As a reminder this is the stunner:

Institutional Investor: Fallon Crystal Khaki Bow Necklace ($682 at Charm and Chain)

Well not surprisingly, Fallon has collaborated with First Lady favorite J. Crew to produce the very similar Carrington necklace:

Retail Investor: FENTON-FALLON for J.Crew Carrington crystal bow necklace ($295)

Available in antique gold and charcoal (which looks more olive in my opinion), it’ll set you back less than half the price of the original necklace and sparkles just as much. It’s not exactly cheap, but worth the investment? You know I’m a sucker for statement jewelry (mixed chains and bows are a clear bonus) and if I had more assurance that not everyone and their mother was going to go out and buy it, maybe I would – BUT, I don’t think I’d save it for special occasions or cocktail affairs – I’d definitely rock this one with solid sheaths to work and plain tees on the weekends. Thoughts on this one, my Wonderfelle readers?

etsy red and green

How is the weekend over already??? Too much fun having fun means Monday AM is going to slap me in the face, but I’m trying to think about it as I enjoy my (sugar-free) hot chocolate with (light) whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.  My first official holiday (read: ugly Christmas sweaters encouraged) party was this weekend and with all the festivities (ahem, eggnog and Christmas cookies) I think the gym is calling… Umm, walking from one end of the mall to the other and freestyle performances of the Mean Girls “jingle bell rock” dance count as exercise, right?

While (not) watching football this afternoon, I spent an abnormal amount of time on Etsy looking at customized (preferably letterpress) stationery options for a gift but have yet to make any purchases…  Apparently I’m not as efficient in shopping for paper goods as I am for dresses, jewelry, or anything I can actually wear… Anyone bought stationery on Etsy before? Suggestions??

(via Sarah Seven)

It’s quite possible I spent more time distracted by other things on Etsy (like Sarah Seven’s shop, I’m still amazed with everything she makes) – really, it’s an addiction. Thankfully I never really got hooked on eBay (I need everything to have a “buy it now” option) because that could really turn into a problem… Anyway… I tend to shy away from red and green most of the year, but I kept finding myself drawn to un-Christmasy things in those colors. And all these things would make great gifts, so I thought I’d share… you’re welcome!

The {AO3} DESIGNS shop has such a cute collection of clutches in various patterns. I love how the green and red ribbons pop on these versatile black and white options! Pictured are the Alexis Clutch in black and ivory damask and apple green ($45) and the sofia model ($45) – but seriously check out the shop because there are a ton of great options (and they’ll custom make them for you too)!

I have long been a fan of Nadinoo‘s delightful collections and the Sunshine’s red bow dress ($185) keeps popping up on my searches for dresses with bows. Kind. Of. Obsessed. The Pixie’s Peacock blouse ($145) with a peter pan collar and peacock feather print is adorable too – especially paired with that little metallic brocade skirt!

I’m admittedly guilty of Necklush lust. I’d take one in every color, but obvs these green ($62) and red ($115) options are the perfect numbers to add a festive touch to an outfit while keeping you warm too!

Fuss Jewelry was one of the first Etsy shops that I ever fell in love with enough to bookmark, and I still think the jewelry is gorgeous. All of the pieces manage to make a statement while still appearing delicate. While I’m usually drawn toward blue and pink gemstones, I think the Berries on Ice Earrings ($119) and the Rich Aqua Green Flourite Flower Necklace ($158) are pretty stunning as well.
