So I’ve clearly given up and joined the “weekly wedding update” club (thought it may not be Wednesdays necessarily)… it really does seem like the easiest thing to do in terms of giving yall updates while not letting it take over my life/blog. If you missed my previous teaser post I hinted at where we decided to get married… but since it’s official now I can say we decided to get married in San Francisco, California! (why San Francisco? We love the city. Z grew up in California and we both have family and friends in the Bay Area… eventually we’d like to move there, but in the meantime we decided why not get married there?)

And really, what a better location for a modern, cosmopolitan wedding than this city? (ok maybe NYC, but we have no real reason to get married there). Anyway, it’s no surprise my wedding style is heavily influenced by my personal style and taste in design. I like sleek lines, modern architectural details, rich colors/textures, bold prints (but nothing too floral) and a touch (maybe more than a touch) of glamour.
After “have you set a date?” I feel like one of the next questions a lot of people ask is “have you picked your colors?” I have a little bit of an issue with this because I think focusing too much on coordinating colors makes things seem too matchy-matchy for my taste… Also, just because my favorite color is pink doesn’t mean I want an all pink wedding! With that said, I’m totally on board with creating a comprehensive aesthetic vision (note: not a theme) and in trying to describe my wedding style a particular color palette emerged…

This photo was actually taken at our reception venue – and clearly it’s the perfect space for event that I’m envisioning! I love a rich royal purple (and/or shades of plum, aubergine) paired with pewter (steel, silver) with pops of fuchsia (magenta, orchid) and warmly lit elements (starlight, candlelight).
