wonderfelle wedding: planning update

So I’ve clearly given up and joined the “weekly wedding update” club (thought it may not be Wednesdays necessarily)… it really does seem like the easiest thing to do in terms of giving yall updates while not letting it take over my life/blog. If you missed my previous teaser post I hinted at where we decided to get married… but since it’s official now I can say we decided to get married in San Francisco, California! (why San Francisco? We love the city. Z grew up in California and we both have family and friends in the Bay Area… eventually we’d like to move there, but in the meantime we decided why not get married there?)

And really, what a better location for a modern, cosmopolitan wedding than this city? (ok maybe NYC, but we have no real reason to get married there). Anyway, it’s no surprise my wedding style is heavily influenced by my personal style and taste in design. I like sleek lines, modern architectural details, rich colors/textures, bold prints (but nothing too floral) and a touch (maybe more than a touch) of glamour.

After “have you set a date?” I feel like one of the next questions a lot of people ask is “have you picked your colors?” I have a little bit of an issue with this because I think focusing too much on coordinating colors makes things seem too matchy-matchy for my taste… Also, just because my favorite color is pink doesn’t mean I want an all pink wedding! With that said, I’m totally on board with creating a comprehensive aesthetic vision (note: not a theme) and in trying to describe my wedding style a particular color palette emerged…

This photo was actually taken at our reception venue – and clearly it’s the perfect space for event that I’m envisioning! I love a rich royal purple (and/or shades of plum, aubergine) paired with pewter (steel, silver) with pops of fuchsia (magenta, orchid) and warmly lit elements (starlight, candlelight).

I’ve been contemplating the state of this blog for a few weeks now… I feel like a lot of other brides-to-be when they first start planning their wedding and realize how much of their free time it takes up so they either 1) become wedding bloggers or 2) stop blogging. I don’t think wedding blogging is for me – though I can see how it makes sense for the type of person who is really into DIY ideas or who falls in love with all sorts of wedding inspiration and loves sharing it with other people… I, on the other hand, am finding that I’m not particularly attracted a lot of the wedding related stuff I find (what can I say, I’m super picky) – I pretty much know what I want and I don’t really spend time doing wedding research that doesn’t specifically fit my vision… That’s not to say I don’t spend a lot of time planning (because I do), but with some (exciting!) changes at work and trying to maintain somewhat of a life balance… blogging barely makes the cut, for now.

We’ll see what happens! In the meantime… here are a few things I’m loving this month:

Smashbox Eye Wish Palette (I purchased this during Sephora’s Friends and Family sale last month – it’s a great assortment of full-sized colors, excellent pigmentation and a really sweet price!) and Butter London in Marrow (love this shade of purple for fall!)

Su-Shi Bags (I’m a little obsessed with all the bags on this site – seriously could not choose favorites)

Lanvin flats (explanation not needed – so luxe, so classic, so comfy!)

That’s all for now… What are yall loving this month?
