happy birthday to me

So I got an early birthday surprise at work today…

photo

Pretty much the craziest birthday cake I’ve ever gotten… who knew that leopard print, hot pink and feathers could be so yummy?? It was a Fluffy Thoughts apple pecan spice cake with cream cheese and caramel filling. Check out some of the cakes on their site, they’re pretty amazing! My cake was definitely a hit -seasonally delicious and fashionable too?!? The best part is that (coincidentally) I was totally wearing shoes that matched the cake today! They looked similar to these:

DGDolce & Gabbana Leopard Sole Patent Pump ($495)

I love that you get a peek of leopard print on the heel and sole of the shoe, but it’s not an all out heyyyy look at me!!I’m animal print!! Mine aren’t patent and they’re from a couple seasons ago, but they’re still fun! Anyway, Carnivelle festivities have officially begun so I’m getting ready for a busy couple of days (and getting sick too! ugh) so have a Wonderfelle weekend!

eat. pray. shop.

A moment for something non-shopping related: last week I had the pleasure of hearing the lovely C speak at a fundraiser about her efforts to eradicate malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh, India. Her work with the Real Medicine Foundation is really quite incredible and it would be great if my Wonderfelle readers took a moment to read more about the initiative or visit the Real Medicine Foundation blog. And since starving children need food and medical care more than you need new Jimmy Choos, consider donating that extra $5, $10, $1000 or whatever you might have to a worthy cause…

Speaking of India, apparently jewelry designer Amrita Singh fell into “accidental love” with jewelry making and now has a super successful business doing something she is passionate about. I wish I could say that was the story of my life…(hmmm, not so much.) but I can say that her jewelry is stunning…

NecklaceCascading Pearl Necklace ($300)

(This necklace is really pretty, right? Well you should know that 1) the pearls aren’t real and 2) the Real Medicine Foundation could use the same $300 to save a VILLAGE by providing full malnutrition prevention and treatment services for a year… I’m just sayin’)

girl on a vine

PromDate

Have I mentioned how much I love Etsy? (Clearly the answer is yes, found here and here). I admit I’m by no means a vintage connoisseur, but inspired by some of my favorite bloggers, I was in the mood to peruse the vintage Etsy shops earlier. I came across the one-shouldered taffeta number above ($195) – how cool does she look?? I was immediately drawn to the cotton candy pouf detail and 80′s vibe… and then, it hit me – of course! I was drawn to this dress because it looks strikingly like the Thread Social number I posted about last week (and I wonder why it always seems like I have 10 of the same thing in my closet…). Anyway, I sorta fell in love with Girl On A Vine, the Etsy shop where I found it…

StJohnVintage St. John dress ($270)

Someone please, PLEASE buy this so I can stop lusting over it. The chiffon ruffle sleeves are ridiculously great and its that stretchy knit material that St. John does so well. I’d need to cut almost a foot off the bottom… but it’s timeless and it looks a little big on the model which means it will probably fit me perfectly so why isn’t it MINE???

RedHotRed Silk with Jacquard Print ($65)

I think I was most drawn to the way this dress was styled, but then I read the description and discovered that the shoulder detailing is actually bows… and I was sold. The matching sash is adjustable and can be worn for an empire silhouette or dropped waist.

PrettyPleatsVintage Pastel Pleated Dress ($125)

Who knew combining pleats, ruffles, ruching and a floral print could produce something so airy and chic? The adjustable wrap top and full skirt would be flattering on almost anyone, quite a lovely vintage find.
